Author Erika Kobayashi (OWAADao 2007) and translator Brian Bergstrom will be touring Portland, Los Angeles, and New York for the release of their new books SUNRISE and TRINITY, TRINITY, TRINITY. This tour was made possible by the Yanai Initiative, the Japan Foundation and AstraHouse.

The selection of Koichiro Kurita's (OWAADao 1990) photographs on exhibition presents nature as the artist sees it in terms of Chi Sui Ki, or terrasphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere, and the borders that each of these realms share with one another and all forms of life.

Noir & Blanc, une esthétique de la photographie

"Black and White: The Aesthetics of Photography," from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, is one of the richest collections of its kind in the world. This retrospective exhibition covering the history of black and white photography features photographs by Koichiro Kurita (OWAADao 1990).

Out of Jungle

October 10, 2023 - October 21, 2023

For Film Fest Ghent's golden jubilee, the festival is launching 2x25: 25 composers were invited to write a short piece of music. Subsequently, 25 filmmakers were inspired by the music to make a short film. As part of this project, Teresa Barrozo (OWAADao 2014) and Jia Zhangke created the short film "Out of the Jungle".

PRISM Quartet and Susie Ibarra: Record Release Concert

Composer and percussionist Susie Ibarra (OWAADao 2007, 2018) joins PRISM Quartet for a concert celebrating the XAS Records release of their most recent collaboration: Ibarra’s “Procession Along the Aciga Tree.” The program, curated by Ibarra, also includes new arrangements of works by Ibarra and Filipino composer José Maceda (OWAADao multiple grants since 1974), and the premiere of “Spring in New York” by Indonesian composer Gardika Gigih (OWAADao 2022).

Ballad on the Shore (岸上漁歌)

The film follows the daily rituals of three old fishermen/fisherwomen couples living in fishing villages on Grass Island and in Aberdeen, Hong Kong. Screening and discussion with filmmaker MA Chi-hang (OWAADao Current Fellow).
